EVFD DEMOLITION DERBY

Brian Hortin(my cousin) is in the white care
go Brian X42
They do anything to get the cars out
The Evanston Firefighter Dept doing the Hockie Pockie and Yes my dad and brother-in-law Wes are in there
Dad dancing
Eric Royer and Ty holding the Wyoming Flag and EVFD Flag
My HEROS Jaron is on the far left, Wes is in the first yellow hat

So the day of the Derby starts about 9:00 am. We get to the rodeo grounds and start setting things up. Then around 11:00 cars start coming and the fun begins. We see all kinds of different paint jobs and cars with stacks on them. If you don't know the derby is the fire dept main event of the year where they make the money for equipment to protect our hero's. Anyways it was a special year again for us becuz my cousin Brian was here again from California. He had two cars didn't do well but was great seeing him. We love you Brian. The derby starts at 6:00 pm with the fire dept doing a special performances and our very own firefighter Chris Bodine sang the national anthem. We think he should go to American Idol,LOL. Then the cars come out for the best paint job. The crowd cheers for the best paint job, why they paint them so nice I will never understand they a destroyed it 2 seconds. After that the first heat starts Brian was in this one. His car was not running well so instead of getting hit he got out before it started. So then it started the cars crashed and crashed. It is the only time you can crash and not get a ticket HAHA. So the second heat started and Brian was in that one too. He did okay until his car got a good hit and died. We had a new event this year it was mini-vans and yes they did look cool driving in a mini van LOL. The announcer this year had our firefighters getting out in the middle of the pit and stand in a circle and do the hockie pockie. That started it all off My dad (who won the best dancer in his senior class 30 years ago) decided to dance for the crowd again us girls were embarrassed keep in mind we know everyone in town. He started dropping his bunker gear pants he had other pants on but some girls came down and gave him 3 dollars. Dad we love you. So the event ends around 10:30pm. We stay there until 12:00 am to kinda get things cleaned up. Then the next morning we go back and clean up good. So if you are every in little town EvanstonWyoming on the second Saturday of September and you hear cars crashing and people cheering come join the fun. We love our Firefighters and what amazing men they are. I have the joy having 3 of them in my family. Never forget the once we lost and always remember what once we have and what they do for us. My hero's forever. I love you all.

Labor Day 2008

It is September now and it gets busy around here. We start with Labor Day weekend (aka Cowboy Days) There are 3 rodeos Sat, Sun nite and Monday afternoon. Then we have the parade Monday morning. So we started our weekend with the fish catch(sorry don't have picture of that) Caden caught one it was so yummy. Then we went to the parade YES it snowed this day how I love Wyoming!! Durning the parade our Evanston Fire Department collects money for MDA, Fill the Boot. So Jaron and dad walk the whole parade about 4 miles to collect money for this special organization. Then we went to the rodeo for one reason cuz it was freezing, but my nephews Bubba and Leebie were muton bustin(sheep riding). So it was muddy but a good show. After this long weekend we have next the derby which I will have to update then. It is the main event of the year. So get prepared to see some cool things. The derby is put on by our EFD. What an event. I wish everyone could come see it.
